Recently my 1/6 hobby buddies commented half in jest that after all the years of collecting 1/6 figures, our new hobby would be toy repairs....
Case in point, my Medicom Red Spectacles panzer cop figure which was mint-in-box since 2007. Finally decided it was opening ceremony time couple weeks back. Most who own this would know what happen next.... feet joints were relatively loose & came off easily even though it's not been played. All the pleather (PVC mock leather) stuff from the shirt, straps immediately started flaking off. Yet another grim reminder that i should have stayed away from Medicom.
Some minor repairs were in order:
1. Removed all the flaking pleather, all the straps had to go
2. Replace the molded belt kit with German ammo pouches
3. Ditch the belt hostler/pistol
4. Change the fabric waist belt to a plastic one
5. Added German belt buckle
6. Replaced the straps on the leg armor & forearm armor (by cutting up a spare WWII German belt)
7. Replaced the MG34
8. Mild weathering & dry brushing
I would have done more by changing out the body but the mask & helmet seemed glued in place and the pleather stuff around the mask continues to flake flake flake.... I still have a Medicom Ghost Rider MIB but that's another sob story for another day.
